What is the UGC NET / JRF June 2025 Examination?
UGC NET (University Grants Commission – National Eligibility Test) is a national-level exam conducted to determine the eligibility for the posts of Assistant Professor and the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). The exam is conducted twice a year by the NTA. In this June 2025 session, the UGC NET will cover 83 subjects. Candidates who have completed or are appearing in their Master’s degree in the concerned subject can apply. Those who qualify for JRF are eligible to receive financial assistance for research and can also apply for Assistant Professor posts. On the other hand, NET qualified candidates can apply only for the Assistant Professor post in colleges and universities.
Eligibility Criteria for UGC NET JRF 2025
Before applying, candidates must ensure they fulfill the following eligibility conditions:
Educational Qualification:
- The candidate must have a Master’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university.
- General/Unreserved candidates must have secured at least 55% marks.
- OBC (NCL)/SC/ST/PwD/Third gender candidates must have secured at least 50% marks.
Age Limit:
- For JRF, the maximum age limit is 30 years as on 1st June 2025.
- A relaxation of up to 5 years is provided to candidates belonging to OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, and women applicants.
- There is no age limit for the post of Assistant Professor.

The online application has started on 16 April 2025. The last date to fill the form is 07 May 2025, and fee payment can be made till 08 May 2025. The application fee varies based on the category of the applicant. For General category candidates, the fee is ₹1150. For EWS and OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates, it is ₹600. For SC, ST, and PwD candidates, the application fee is ₹325.
